This petite songbird, belonging to the ovenbird family (Furnariidae), is a recent taxonomic split from its close relative, the Buff-throated Foliage-gleaner. Found only in Costa Rica and the western reaches of Panama, the Chiriqui Foliage-gleaner is a true resident of the highlands.

Spotting a Shy Gem
