Here at our Costa Rican retreat, nestled amidst the emerald embrace of the mountains, we wake up every day to a symphony of birdsong. Today, let’s turn our attention to a vibrant resident flitting through the trees – the Brown-throated Parakeet (Eupsittula pertinax).

A splash of color:

While you might encounter Brown-throated Parakeets in Costa Rica’s Central Valley region, their presence is more prominent in the Caribbean lowlands and foothills. Here, at our mountain retreat, you have a good chance of seeing them flitting through the trees, their green forms a delightful splash of color against the lush backdrop.
