Preparation & Safety

Your Journey Begins with Care and Guidance

We ensure your safety and comfort through careful preparation, expert facilitation, and ongoing support before, during, and after the ceremony.

Dietary Preparation

We require a specific diet 7 days before the ceremony: no red meat, alcohol, caffeine, dairy, or processed foods. This purifies your body and prepares you for the medicine.

Medical Screening

All participants complete a health questionnaire. Certain medications and conditions are incompatible with Ayahuasca. Our team will review your information before approval.

Our shamans are trained in both traditional practices and modern safety protocols. A medical professional is on-site during all ceremonies for your peace of mind.

Important Considerations

  • Ayahuasca is not advised for those with heart issues, severe mental illness, or on SSRIs.
  • Pregnant or nursing women cannot participate
  • Participants must be at least 21 years old
  • A clear intention and openness to the experience are essential
  • Avoid alcohol, drugs, and red meat for at least one week before the retreat.
  • Those with epilepsy or neurological issues should consult a doctor first.
  • Participants in psychological treatment need approval from their therapist.
  • Show respect for the ceremony, facilitators, and fellow participants.

Such a peaceful place. The staff is so kind and helpful (you're the best, Carlos!) and the location is unbeatable. We swam in the pool, hiked the trails, and enjoyed the tranquility of the cabin. The cabins are well-built and cozy. We had a 4x2, not a 4x4, and had no problem getting up the road to the property. I would love to visit again and would recommend it to anyone who wants to disappear in nature for a few days. (The wifi also worked wonderfully if you don't want to disconnect completely).

It’s all in the name! Adventure and nature retreat is the best way to describe it. I stayed here for a week in March and I was not disappointed. This place exceeded my expectations with the gorgeous views, waterfalls, and hiking trails. They even provided mountain bikes, so you can be as adventurous as you want to be. Meditating with the soothing sounds of a flowing stream and waterfall is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives! This is a great place for reflection and to feel rejuvenated by connecting with nature. The cabin I stayed in was comfortable and very clean, it even had its own modem so WiFi was never an issue. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to reset, refresh and refuel!

Hotel Rivel was just what I was expecting and more. I'm a very outdoor person so being in the mountains and having access to a mountain bike was exactly what I needed. The room was so cozy and I love all of the person touches like the adaptors and especially the fresh bananas hanging at the front! I've never experienced anything like it. The staff were so pleasant and this property has so much to explore. The pool with the waterfall was incredible and I loved hiking and biking on the trails. It's the perfect place for peace and if you're looking for it, adventure!! Not to mention, the wifi connection was surprisingly strong! I could easily stream and catch up on work emails when I needed to! Great value!

Location! Location! Location! I loved being able to connect with nature at every turn. Beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails to explore. Absolutely marvelous views. Very cozy cabins. My favorite place to hang out was at the beautiful natural pool with a waterfall. You just can't find that on a resort! If you're looking for a one of a kind adventure in the beautiful mountainous landscape of Costa Rica, this is your spot. Definitely visiting again in the near future. Pura Vida!!

I loved the fully equipped and modern cabins! The numerous options for hikes, river trekking, waterfalls, natural pools and breathtaking sights! The owner and staff are super attentive and always helpful! There is a natural pool and waterfall onsite. The lazy river whooshes and burbles you to sleep. We spotted a sloth! And lots of mountain bikes and trails to choose from based on your comfort level! Also there's wifi in each cabin - which allowed me to take a few work meetings while away :p

The enclave of the hotel is a wonder where you can enjoy nature in pure condition. The access road can be difficult on some stretches but it is worth it. The staff made us feel like family especially bartender Joel, Cristel, the pizza chef, and the rest of the staff. They were kind enough to explain some plants and aspects of the culture of the region, popular festivities and traditions to us. Food was fantastic. A wise move.

One of the hotels I have liked the most in Costa Rica. The room is tiny but not uncomfortable and is also well equipped: binoculars, spotlight, board games and even a speaker for music. The managers are super friendly and sooo attentive, an unbeatable service. The grounds have trails, and obviously the river is one of the best things, perfect to cool off. The breakfast was very complete and also our dinner was delicious.
