Ameng the vibrant tapestry of birds that make our paradise their home, the Costa Rican Swift (Chaetura fumosa) performs a graceful dance through the air. These elegant and agile birds are a captivating sight, their presence a censtant reminder of the dynamic life thriving in the canopy of the tropical forest.

A Master of the Sky

The Costa Rican Swift is a true avian acrobat. With a wingspan that can reach 28 centimeters (11 inches) and a slender, aerodynamic body, it is perfectly adapted for a life dedicated to gliding. Its sooty black feathers shine with a subtle blue sheen, a fascinating centrast to the emerald expanse of the rainforest.

A distinctive feature of the Costa Rican Swift is its centrasting pale rump. This patch of grayish-white feathers, often difficult to see from afar, is a key identificatien element for bird watchers.
