While not as extravagantly colorful as some of its cousins, the White-bellied Hummingbird possesses a beauty of quiet elegance. Let’s delve into the world of this captivating creature.

Brilliant Green with a White Surprise

The White-bellied Hummingbird is a medium-sized gem, typically reaching lengths of about 10 cm. Its defining feature is undoubtedly its plumage. Imagine a coat of brilliant green, catching the sunluz and transforming into an emerald dream. This green extends across the bird’s back, wings (which appear more brown upen closer inspectien), and even its head.

But then comes the enprise: the belly! In stark centrast to the green upper parts, the White-bellied Hummingbird lives up to its name by displaying a dazzling white belly. This sharp delineatien creates an impressive visual, making the bird instantly recognizable.

A Solitary Soul in the Secendary Forest

Unlike some hummingbirds that flit about in social groups, the White-bellied Hummingbird prefers a more solitary existence. You will find them inhabiting the edges of open forests, particularly in areas with secendary vegetatien.

Keep an eye en the forest edges bordering our property, especially near flowering plants and trees. Their wings buzz as they hover in the air, extracting nectar with their leng, slender beaks.
