The Pacific screech owl, with its scientific name Megascops cooperi, may be compact, but it has a big personality. This medium-sized owl, reaching just 23 to 25 centimeters in length, boasts prominent ear tufts that stand tall on its head. Don’t be fooled by its cuteness: those bright yellow eyes harbor a keen focus, perfectly adapted for hunting under the cover of darkness.
While you may be familiar with the classic hoot of owls, the Pacific screech owl has a different vocal repertoire.
